Pertwee became best known for spending 18 years (1959–1977) playing Chief petty officer Pertwee in the popular series The Navy Lark on BBC Radio, as well as starring on television as the Third Doctor in the science-fiction series Doctor Who between 1970 and 1974. He had further success playing the title character in the television series Worzel Gummidge from 1979 to 1981 (reprising the role from 1987 to 1989).
Some of the films that he appeared in include; A Yank at Oxford 1938, Murder at the Windmill 1949, and as a Headwaiter/Charless II (both roles pictured) in 1949’s Helter Skelter.
Some of the other films that he appeared in include Mister Drake’s Duck 1951, It’s a Wonderful World 1956, Ladies Who Do 1963, Carry on Cleo 1964, You Must be Joking 1965, Carry on Cowboy 1965, Carry on Screaming 1966, Runaway Railway 1966 and The House that Dripped Blood 1971.
The actor died 20th May 1996.
