A Girl in a Million (1946)
As Prendergast and Fotheringham, Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne star in this 1946 classic release from British Lion Corporation and directed by Francis Searle.
The movie tells the story of a recently divorced inventor, Tony, employed by The War Office as the Head of a research institute. Prendergast and Fotheringham are his subordinate assistants. The three bachelor’s peaceful existence at the research institute are soon disrupted by the alluringly quite Gay (played brilliantly by Joan Greenwood) who has mysteriously lost her voice in a wartime accident.
Gays appearance, and her romantic liaison with Tony causes a degree of dissatisfaction with Prendergast and Fotheringham as it does with the annoying ex wife of Tony, played sublimely by Yvonne Owen. The budding romance, as Tony inevitably succumbs to the alluring charms of Joan Greeenwood’s character, is amusing melodramatic business,
